The best way to apply ultra fine glitter on your eyes

The special touch that ultra fine glitter can add to your creations will make you look stunning. We include it on makeup, arts and crafts, and toys because it is fun, stylish, and of course, shiny! But do you know what the components of PLA glitter are? Is it safe for your eyes or the environment?

Is ultra fine glitter safe?

The ugly truth is that most of the ultra-fine glitter on the market is PLA glitter. PLA glitter classifies as a microplastic and synthetic polymer. It contains heavy metals between its layers. Therefore it does not biodegrade in natural environments. It remains in nature for more than 100 years before it starts degrading, and by this time, it has already damaged our soil, water, flora, and fauna.

Our animals absorb and eat these microplastics, metals, and toxic materials, poisoning and killing them. Ultrafine plastic glitter is impossible to separate from other garbage or small particles. Even if big companies try burning it, it just melts, generating toxic smoke (again, contributing to pollution!). These processes to get rid of it also are exhaustive and require wasting tons of water.

If PLA glitter can cause so much damage to the environment, what happens to our skin? We can find glitter in cosmetics, especially in eyeshadow, and here lies the importance of checking if the materials used are biodegradable or contain plastic. A single microparticle of plastic glitter around the eye can cause severe irritation, infection, permanent damage, and even blindness.

Is there a safe and biodegradable Glitter?

Luckily, technology in this era has allowed us to create biodegradable products in the market. Biodegradable glitter is one of them. Bioglitter Pure is the first and only utterly biodegradable glitter in the world. This means:

  • It takes only four weeks to biodegrade naturally.

  • Microplastics-free.

  • Non-toxic (metals free)

  • Non-GMO.

  • Cruelty-free.

  • Safe to use on cosmetics.

  • Safe for children.

  • Safe for the environment.

  • When burned, it turns into ashes.

Bioglitter is a plant base made product. Its core is composed of eucalyptus cellulose from certified plantations. Its applications are infinite, on toys, clothes, wrapping paper, decorations, personal care products, or cosmetics (being safe to use around the eyes.) It creates incredible eyeshadow looks, and the best part is that it can not harm you.

New call-to-action

How to differentiate PLA glitter from Bioglitter?

A truly biodegradable product will have certificates that back it up. And their sellers should not have any problem showing them. If glitter is not biodegradable in freshwater, it means that it contains microplastic. And it would not degrade on natural circumstances.

Bioglitter:

  • Certified “OK Biodegradable WATER” by TÜV.

  • It complies with the Global Cosmetic Regulations

  • Won Gold for “innovation” at In-Cosmetics Global (2017 in London and 2018 in Amsterdam)

  • Won the “Green and Sustainability” category at the PCHI Fountain Awards (2019 in China)

Can I create beautiful eye makeup with Bioglitter?

Definitely! Whatever your favorite colors are, Bioglitter offers a range of colors enough to create fantastic looks and combinations. It sticks perfectly with your makeup. Using a good primer also guarantees that it lasts longer. Or you can also choose to use ecological and skin safe glue if you want a festive makeup around the eyes.

Tip: If you want to add extra fabulousness, combine your eyeshadow with a great eyeliner and mascara.

To enjoy a good eyeshadow look,  you don’t need to harm the environment, yourself, or risk your health. Choose the best products, and let your imagination do the rest!

Ecofriendly companies are making a change in awareness about the importance of biodegradability. It is expected for the coming years to have eliminated microplastics
