How To Make Beautiful Glitter Candles
So, now that you know that Bioglitter™ PURE is safe for candles, we will teach you how to make them following four simple steps.
You will need:
Small metal tins, glass or ceramic pots
1 lb soy wax flakes (makes approximately four candles of 6 ounces)
Sticky wick tabs, glue dots, or double-stick tape
Your favorite shades of BIOGLITTER™ PURE
A scented oil (optional)
Let's get down to business!
Wick Tips and Tricks
First, you must secure the wick to the bottom of the container using glue dots, wick sticky tabs, or double-stick tape. Remember that the wick should be taller than the container to stand out.
Wick tabs are not essential but will make your life easier and safer.
Gluing the wick directly to the bottom of the tin means that the candle will burn down. Flares will, therefore, directly contact the bottom and could shatter the glass, releasing a flammable gelatinous mess.
Low and Slow
Melt the soy wax flakes slowly over low heat in a pouring pot. Start with the first half, and after it has begun to soften, add the rest and stir.
This process will take nearly 10 mins per pound. Patience is key!
You can also use the double boiler method and put your pouring pot inside a saucepan filled with water at medium heat. Since a double boiler rarely reaches the boiling point of water, there is less risk of scorching the wax. However, the whole process will take longer.
Once the wax has melted completely, remove it from heat.
If you want your candles with fragrance, this is the moment to add some scented oil drops, although this step is entirely optional. In any case, the usual ratio is around 1oz of scent to each pound of wax.
Carefully pour the wax blend into the containers. Make sure it is not overheated; otherwise, your wax will shrink in the middle of the container.
Add Some Sparkle
Take your favorite shades of Bioglitter™ PURE and pour them into the containers while the wax is still nice and warm! Since glitter is lighter than the wax, it will remain atop the surface, although it blends well.
Add as much glitter as you want and give it a gentle swirl or shake to cover all the edges. You will have a nice, shiny glitter layer with a foiled effect.
Use two sticks to keep your wick in the center of the tin. Once the wax has cooled completely (up to 12 hours), trim the wicks to about a ¼ inch height. Then, you will have to wait for 24 hrs before lighting up your candles.
